Hosting Our First Slumber Party!

This afternoon our little friends Mia, McKenzie and Tawnie arrived for our very first slumber party.  Once everyone arrived and got settled in, the girls decided to play upstairs in the playroom for a while before appearing in the living room asking to watch one of the movies Mia brought with her.  They selected Tim Burton's movie "Coraline".  They all lined up on the floor and snuggled in for the show.

While the girls were watching their movie, I was busy making their dinner.  By the time the movie ended, we have five mini-pizzas ready to be eaten by five hungry girls!

After eating, it was back to playing.  The girls played "Just Dance" on the Wii, had a great time playing with the Monster High School and even had cheer leading lessons from McKenzie and Mia.

They were up until about 11:15 pm and then went to bed together all lined up across the middle of the toy room floor.  They went to sleep great with no issues and were back up and at it around 8:00 a.m. the next morning.  They had a great time and we can't wait until we have time to do this again!

Good Morning ... We are 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awoken to mommy and daddy singing "Happy Birthday" holding two princess cakes with #7 candles on them ... breakfast was served!   The girls got up extra early so they had to time to play with their presents before school.

The Monster High video camera and high school playset were huge hits with the girls.  They are off to school and then Alyssa has a hearing appointment with a Pediatric ENT specialist and then we will meet up with daddy and Madison for swimming lessons and finally out for a birthday dinner at Bonfire (girls choice).  It should be a good day!!!!

1st Grade Pictures

Today the girls' brought home their school portraits for 1st grade.  They actually turned out pretty decent, although we will still be heading in soon to get their 7 year portraits taken at a studio somewhere.

Alyssa also managed to earn her first "Caught You Being Good" award for this academic year and we are very proud of her.  She helped her teacher out by organizing a bookshelf full of chapter books.

We also a wonderful milestone today when both girls brought home their very first spelling test results and they both got 100%, we are very proud parents!!!!

1/2 Mile Family Fun Run & Heimatfest Parade

Peter and I participated with the girls in the 1/2 mile family fun run this morning.  This was mommy's and the girls' first official "run" and we are proud to report that we all crossed the finish line.  Daddy dropped off us off to get the girls' running numbers and T-shirts.  They were excited to know they would receive a participation medal after they crossed the finish line!

Alyssa and daddy arrived first and Madison holding mommy's hand for encouragement crossed the line together just a minute or so later.   They were super proud of their medals after they finished!!

Immediately following the race we were off to the parade line up to find the rest of the Girl Scouts so that we get the girls with their friends and loaded onto the float for the Heimatfest Parade.

Once the girls were settled onto the float with the troop leader, Jessica, we were off to find a viewing place along the parade route.  Before we knew it, we could see the girls coming down the parade route!

Notice the princess waves the girls were practicing ... :)   They had a great morning and we still have fireworks to look forward to at Lagoon Park tonight.

First day of 1st Grade ... Ready to go!!!

Today the girls started 1st grade, yes, believe it or not!  They were really excited for their first day of school and I was happy to see them return home and back off the bus with even bigger smiles then when they had left earlier this morning.  They had a wonderful day and are looking forward to a great year under the leadership of Ms. Gleixner!
