The Playground Project Day 3 & 4

Just when we thought that we could rest ... the pea gravel arrived for the play area ... the before picture of the driveway was much nicer to see than the after ...

10 tons of pea gravel ... to be moved by wheelbarrow to the play area ... oh and mulch for the rest of the yard.

It took mommy and daddy two days of hard work but we finally got all the gravel moved to the play area and we can officially say this project is done!!

We moved the girls sand box, water table and play house into the play area as well and now we have our own little park right in the side yard ... I bet the neighbors just love the new view!! :)

The Playground Project ... Days 1 & 2

Okay ... today is the day!!! After spending two hours last night in the hot garage sorting parts in preparation, we are ready to start the building process.

Making some headway ... Grandpa, Daddy and mommy worked hard in the hot sun. Grandma also was over to help entertain the girls and brought us a GREAT lunch. She even got her hands a bit dirty helping haul parts over to the building area with Mommy.

We had to end day one early as daddy was called out for work and a thunderstorm found its way to our neighborhood. However, Grandpa and Grandma were back bright and early the next day and mommy and Grandpa got busy building. Daddy arrived around lunch time and the we had success by late afternoon ... with no "extra" parts!! The girls were eager to try out the play area even though we still have to finish the ground cover yet.

Mommy getting hugs from some happy girls!

Celebrating a day of hard work with dinner at Maynard's on the lake and giving their daddy some love too!!

Sod, Sod and ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today we finally finished removing all the sod from the play area we are working on making ... it was hot and so much work. Mommy and daddy are very sore and very happy that this part of the project is complete finally.

Our wonderful friend and neighbor offered his services and his pick up truck to help us remove the sod from the yard and dispose of it. Grandpa, Grandma and Uncle Clayton also stopped by to help us load the sod into the truck.

While the boys worked very hard at moving sod to the truck, the girls heard that familiar musical noise that fills the neighborhood every Thursday ... yes ... they found the ice cream truck and had to patiently wait at the curbside for it to arrive.

Here it comes ... we are excited now!!!

Yesssssssss ... finally ... ICE CREAM!!

Enjoying their treat after a hard day of watching mommy and daddy work in the yard ... as well as our family and friends ... :)

Father's Day 2010

Mommy and the girls took daddy out to Woodfire for a father's day dinner of filet and martinis. Okay, well, for mommy and daddy anyway ... the girls enjoyed a grilled cheese and fresh fruit with milk on the side.

The martini flights were hit with daddy ...

And mommy ...

Umm ... I think the sugar in desert got the best of them ...

Happy Father's Day Daddy ... you are loved more than you could every possibly know!!

It's Raining, It's Pouring ...

Upset that they were stuck in the car during the rain showers today and didn't get to use their new umbrellas ... daddy gave them a homemade rain shower and boy did they have fun!!!

Swimming Lessons Begin!

Welcome to Little's One ... our first day of swimming lessons!! The girls got a wonderful instructor, Lauren, who they absolutely adore!

We were not sure how the lessons would go, we did know they both love water, but still we were pleasantly surprised to see that they were both very willing to try everything asked of them.

It is safe to assume by the smiles they were sporting that swimming lessons were going to be a big hit with our little mermaids ... can't wait to see how they progress.

Visit To Chuck E Cheese

Yup that is the girls playing air hockey! Brings back lots of memories for mommy from when she was a young girl and played many a game of air hockey at Blue Bird Springs campgrounds ... but I digress ...

That tell tale mouse pictured on the side of the air hockey table tells the whole story ... yes ... mommy finally caved and took the girls to Chuck E Cheese to enjoy a few hours of torture fun playing games and eating pizza.

As painful as it was for mommy, the girls loved it, of course, don't all kids????

Mommy bought way too many game tokens but we did our best to use them up before we called it a day. Alyssa loved the bicycle that you pedal fast and it raises you up off the ground.

Madison's favorite was the horse race video game that allowed you to actually ride a fake horse, we rode that more times than mommy can count!!

The biggest "together" game was the guns that shoot water when you aim them at a target. They had a blast racing each other to make the sirens go off first.

After our visit to Chuck E Cheese, we decided to stop by the park in the neighborhood were the Hokanson's are currently building their new home. It was fun to see the progress on their house and get a chance to play at a nice playground. We even took time to enjoy the wild flowers ... maybe a little too much as mommy was busy taking pictures and realized too late that Miss Madison had collected a fist full of the flowers ... of course for mommy ...

Grand Old Day

Today we met up with The Hokanson's for the Grand Old Day parade and boy did the kids enjoy themselves!! We arrived in plenty of time to grab some prime curbside spots, perfect for viewing and candy collecting!

While we waited for the start of the parade, daddy took the girls for a little walk down the street and when they returned they had talked daddy into some goodies!!

The parade was lots of fun and as you can see the girls were having a great time!

We even had a very rare photo opportunity with mommy ... thank you daddy!

We finished the day out with a lunch at Maynard's on the lake. We sat lakeside and just after our food was delivered a thunderstorm hit and we had to run the girls and the food inside the restaurant ... the girls still had smiles for us while sharing a sip of water!
