Since daddy has been away from home this entire month for training, we decided to take advantage of his day off as well as his hotel room in St. Paul and have a family day. It has been hard for everyone with daddy being away from home so much, but the girls were so excited to get to spend the day as a family.
We met daddy after class and picked him up to go to St. Paul with him. We decided to take advantage of the year long family pass to the Children's Museum we received from grandma and grandpa for Christmas. We found a good time to go (Friday afternoon at 3 pm), as the museum was busy but nothing like we have seen it in the past ... we could actually do activities and move around from item to item without struggles which is always a benefit.
The girls had a great time in the kid size town and their favorite things in the town were driving the city bus and grocery shopping!
After playing around the town, we headed over the hand's on area where we raced boats down water slides, made bubbles and spent a lot of time with daddy learning how to move water through different tubes using currents and pressure to carry ping-pong balls through the water pathways.
The traveling exhibit happened to be all about dinosaurs ... which was right up Miss Madison's alley!! Both girls enjoyed running around the exhibit, walking like dinosaurs and even digging for fossils ... although I think Madison enjoyed it a little bit more.
After spending some time burning off some energy in the indoor play park, we spent a few quieter minutes reading about dinosaurs in the reading corner. We also were treated to a short puppet show by Madison, who really liked the pterodactyl puppet the best!
We decided to head back to the hotel for a little bit to freshen up and then we were off to dinner at Pazzaluna. The girls really did so well at this upper scale restaurant and behaved like real little ladies. We walked the skyways back to the hotel and lucky us found Alvin and Chipmunks on HBO. The girls settled into their princess sleep bags on their bed and enjoyed the show followed by a rather restless night of sleep ... we need to work on this hotel sleeping thing mommy thinks ...
The pictures are a bit dark and Madison seemed to have backed up out of the group shot, but it is the best that we have ... Tonight the entire family, minus daddy as he was in training still, got together at Wild Fire Grill to celebrate Grandma's 60th birthday!!!
Today mommy and the girls participated in a pre-school field trip to Edinborough Park, one of our favorite winter play places! Mommy was pleasantly surprised at how independent the girls were on this trip. They took off together into the climbing towers and only stopped by occasionally to say hello or to get a boo-boo kissed. Mommy actually got to SIT and TALK to other moms while the kids played ... blissful really.
