Today the girls and mommy went to the Mall of America with our neighbor, Sherrin. Our destination there was the Sea Life Aquarium and the visit was a birthday gift to the girls from Sherrin. We decided to be at the mall right at opening time and after we arrived, we discovered that we were 30 minutes too early. We opted to grab a coffee and take a leisurely stroll through an empty and very quiet Nikelodeon Universe while we waited.
We we were finally able to enter the aquarium, the girls were super excited to explore the touch pool that was filled with many sea stars.
The girls took very good care of us and referred to their aquarium maps frequently to determine our route through the exhibits.
On our way to observe the beautiful jellyfish, we were sidetracked by a smaller exhibit filled with silly little eel creatures that were buried in the sand at the bottom of the tank and only extended their heads out of the holes to eat things that were floating past them. The girls thought they were funny looking!
With the helps of our tour guides and their maps, we found ourselves standing in a dark room filled with beautiful jellyfish floating in tall tanks of water. We also found a cool looking octopus in his own tank, but he stayed "stuck" to a corner and was a bit hard to observe.
Upon leaving the jellyfish room, we found ourselves entering the shark tunnels and boy was there a lot to see there!
After a fun morning at the aquarium, we headed back home for lunch and then Sherrin and the girls surprised mommy with a birthday cake!
It was a great day and the cake was yummy!!! Thank you Sherrin for everything ... ((Hugs))
