Today Grandma and Grandpa B decided to take the girls fishing for the first time! We met up with them at a local "pond" in our hometown. Grandpa surprised the girls with their very own kid size fishing poles and we headed out to the fishing dock.
Grandma and Grandpa did the honors of baiting the hooks with little worms. Madison was facinated by it squigglying around on the hook but Alyssa look a bit mortified.
They both got a quick lesson on how to push the button on the rod to release the line into the water and soon enough their worms were under water waiting for the fish.
Fishing was off to a slow start with no bites and attention spans wanning ... a diversion was found briefly when we spotted a dead fish floating in the water ... apparently that was very cool!
Some people on the other side of the dock left and said the fish were biting on that side so we moved and within minutes of dropping the lines, both girls had their first fish!!! Madison caught a small sunfish and Alyssa got a small bass.
After the first fish were caught ... there was much renewed interest in this fishing thing ... Madison went on to catch three really good sized sunfish.
Madison loved touching them and squeeled with joy when doing it.
Alyssa caught one more small one and decided it was more fun to run around the dock. Although she seemed interested in touching the fish, she wasn't quite brave enough this time to follow through on doing it.
The girls had a great time and can't wait to go again ... but some how I think Alyssa would prefer to go shoe shopping. :)
he girls had their first three swimming lessons with Jenni this summer and they did fabulous! We knew that Madison would take to the water like a fish, but we were pleasantly surprised to find the Alyssa actually loved it and was almost more cooperative with Jenni than our little fish Maddie turned out to be ... hmmmm ... mommy thinks our stubborness is starting to show ... good grief.
