I realize it has been a long while since our last update. Mommy will get back in the groove of things soon. We have been doing the typically weekly things that we always. School has been on a break for two weeks and now the girls have been sick so we missed our first week back. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have been busy with Alyssa's therapy appointments and did I mention our entire house is sick, including Quincy the youngest cat, who just had stomach surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago to remove a large plastic object from his stomach ... yes he is not the smartest cat ever.
So, at any rate, in a few days when we hopefully are all feeling much better finally, I will post some pictures and a real update ...

Girls First Weekend Away (To Grandma & Grandpa's B)
Well, mommy finally did IT ... spent her first two nights away from the girls other than one night away when they were six months old to be a bridesmaid for a friend's out-of-town wedding. Daddy took mommy to San Diego this past weekend get-a-way and the girls spent the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa B, Uncle Clayton and Cousin Alexia.
Mommy did fairly well with phone calls to check on the girls, once in the morning and once after bedtime, each day to see how they were doing and how Grandma and Grandpa were holding up. The girls first night was a bit rough, but it was expected by all adults involved. The second night went much better according to Grandma, who only had to bribe the girls with taking home their cousin Alexia's Cinderella Barbie Castle ... worked like a charm!!
The girls definitely enjoyed their time at Grandma and Grandpa B's and all the attention from not only them but also from Cousin Alexia, who logged in 120 minutes of reading time for school by the time she was done reading to the girls over the weekend. Alexia also took the girls outside to enjoy some fun in the snow.
The girls loved having all the extra play time with Grandpa and Grandma!! Meals apparently were made fun by having races to see who could finish items first and Grandma even found a way to sneak in some ice cream cones as a treat!
Meanwhile, out on the West Coast, mommy and daddy were enjoying grown up dinners, martinis, a casual six mile walk along the San Diego Bay, lunch in Little Italy at the Farmer's Market and a fabulous six course tapas meal at an upscale restaurant in the Gaslamp District whose executive chef was a contestant on the current season of Top Chef (which mommy and daddy happen to watch). Mommy managed to even get nine hours of straight sleep for the first time in over four years ... wonderful!! Although mommy missed her girls, it was a good kind of missing as at the same time mommy and daddy were so enjoying being a couple again.
Our welcome reception home from the girls was more than I expected ... it is so good to be loved!
So, a big thank to Grandma and Grandpa B and cousin Alexia for taking such great care of the girls and to daddy for finally getting mommy to take a break, even if it was a short one!!

Story Time At Our Local Library
Every Tuesday morning from 11:00 to 11:30 mommy and girls try our very best to make it to story time at our library. This week's theme was "Silly Stories". The girls had a great time and the children attending where so into the stories, that we had time to hear FIVE stories and learn two new activity songs.
In honor of the silly stories and with Valentine's Day approaching, our lovely and talented librarian had "silly" treats for the kids consisting of red licorice ropes and conversation hearts ... needless to say, that was almost a bigger hit than the stories.
We love our weekly visit to the library to hear the stories and the girls always check out one video and 1-2 books each to get us through until the next story day. Our library is a sad little library in need of a new home and some new resources, but with programs and this and their fabulous storyteller, I hope it draws some attention to the need for improvements, like maybe fixing the leaking ceiling before more books are lost ...

Breakfast With The Backyardigans!!
Today mommy, daddy and the girls packed up the car early and headed to the MOA (Mall of America) for Toddler Tuesday. We met Aunt Tammy and Christian at Starbucks in the main rotunda and then headed over the West Market Square. Today's program was Breakfast with the Backyardigans ... that was enough to get mommy to cancel speech therapy for today and head out in the cold.
We got there plenty early (30 minutes). The kids entertained themselves with dancing to the Backyardigans songs and then settled down at the table to color some pictures of Tyrone, Pablo and Uniqua (who would be making an appearance in a few short minutes).
The kids enjoyed a breakfast which consisted of a juice box and your choice of 10 different flavors of Instant Oatmeal (it was free so what could we expect?!). After we finished eating, we headed over to get in line for pictures with Uniqua (Alyssa's favorite), Pablo (Madison's favorite) and Tyrone. When our turn finally came, the girls were in HEAVEN!! Alyssa went first and delivered her "big hug" to Uniqua and she told her that she loved her. She followed that with hugs for Pablo and Tyrone.
Next was Miss Madison's turn. She ran right past Uniqua and straight to Pablo where she immediately gave him a "big hug". Then she backed up to Uniqua for a hug and then finally Tyrone got his hug.
Lastly, Christian came out very excited to see the characters but once he got close, he decided it wasn't that great. Alas, only a group shot with face hidden was what we got for his memory book (see the top picture). He did, however, love them from afar as the three kiddos stood outside the photo area and continued to yell the characters names out to them and wave like maniacs!
Tammy and Christian then headed for a pit stop at a store close by while Madison and Alyssa got to meet Sharky the Shark from Underwater Adventures and Shrimpy from Bubba Gumps. Alyssa declined pictures with either of these characters but Madison was definitely up for it!
While waiting for Tammy and Christian to return and for daddy to get down buying his new Blackberry Storm, mommy and the girls sat and listened to two stories told by the story teller for the Toddler Tuesday program.
Finally when we were all back together it was time to hit the Nickelodeon theme park. We went on lots of rides but the definite favorite again this visit was The Wonder Pets Flyboat, which the kids rode SIX times!!!
We took a break for lunch and then hit the rides some more before calling it a day and packing things up. The kids were exhausted as was mommy and daddy, but we all had fun!!!
