Alyssa Donated Her Ponytail to Locks of Love Today

Alyssa has wanted short hair for a long time now but I have been hesitant to let her do simply because I was not sure she understood the growing back part ... meaning how long it will take to grow back if she doesn't care for short hair.  After much talking and thinking, she decided she still wanted shorter hair.  We compromised, it is not nearly as short as she first asked for, but I told her if she did want I suggested and liked it, the next time she could go shorter if she still wanted too.

There was enough hair to donate to Locks of Love which was just a bonus!

Madison also got a haircut today, but a little less dramatic.  She had 4" cut off because she wants long hair!

2012 ... When Did You Sneak Up On Us???

With my return to school over this past year, it is painfully obvious that my blogging the girls adventures has suffered tremendously.  Another factor in this decreased posting is that the girls have started full time school as Kindergarteners.  So, while we are extremely busy, it is not always necessarily worthy of a blog update.  So, it should not really surprise me that New Year's sort of sneaked up behind us and here we are!  2012 ... the year the girls will turn 7 and likely surprise us many memorable milestones yet again ... and my goal is document them, a bit better than the last year.

So, here is trying to start the new year out better than the last year of blogging ended ...

Daddy was home with us on New Year's Eve this year and we took advantage of this by watching Kung Fu Panda 2 and then heading out to St. Paul to take a drive through the "Lights in the Park" display which will be ending until the holiday season begins next year.

The girls loved the drive, once we got to the park, before that, they just wanted to know, "Are we there yet?" Their favorite light displays were full of dragons and unicorns!

The girls opted for a New Year's meal of McDonald's Happy Meals in the car and daddy and I opted for picking up our favorite sushi from Crave to enjoy at home with a glass of wine.

The girls kept their regular bedtime as really what is midnight to them???  We had a little New Year's Eve celebration in the driveway at 8 pm with hats, horns and confetti before tucking them in for their last sleep of 2011.
