Decorating the Tree
We finished decorating our tree today and even got a little visit from our neighbor Sherrin. She came over to the visit the sick girls and brought little goodies to make them smile ... and they did! They even learned how to play "Go Fish" ... thank you Sherrin!

2011 Hollidazzle Parade
Alyssa was feeling much better after being on her medication for three days now; however, Madison decided to join her ranks and developed a strep infection today as well. Despite being sick, we decided to take advantage of the exceptionally nice weather tonight and headed up to Minneapolis for dinner out and opening night of the Hollidazzle parade.
We grabbed dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery just a few blocks off of Nicollet Avenue where the Hollidazzle would take place. Apparently many others decided to take advantage of the warm weather, high 40's, to come out and enjoy the evening as well, the restaurant was very busy and the streets were packed by the time we finished eating!
After walking down the streets for a while, we managed to find a small spot along the curb just wide enough for the girls to fit in with their little chairs. Daddy got us settled and took off to find coffees and cocoa. It took the entire 45 minutes of waiting for the start of the parade before daddy found his way back to us. By then, the sidewalks had completely filled up and there was no room left for him. He watched the parade four rows behind us. Madison gave up her little chair in place of mommy's lap.
We were treated to a surprise of fireworks before the start of the parade and the girls thought that was pretty terrific! After the fireworks, the parade began!
The girls had a great time and giggled though the entire event. They received lots of high fives from characters in the parade and Madison even managed a hug from a teddy bear!
Our favorite spinning nutcracker ... we even were treated to a spin right in front of us!

Here comes Santa Claus ...
We had a lovely time even if daddy had to watch from a different spot. He said he could still see the parade just fine. Madison, unfortunately, had a pretty good fever going by the time we arrived home, but she was due for her next medicine dose and all was well. Both girls said it was the best day ever!

Thanksgiving Feast ... Mrs. Schussler's Class
Even though Alyssa was at home sick with strep throat and still contagious, Madison still had to make her way to school for the second day without her sister. Today, however, was their Thanksgiving Feast. Mommy volunteered to help with the crafts part of the morning and stayed for the short concert and to enjoy the feast the kiddos made by bringing veggies to school to add to Mrs. S's stew.

After arts and crafts, Mrs. S read the children a Thanksgiving story.
Madison singing her heart out during the choir part of the program ... I think this song was her favorite, "5 Little Turkeys".
The school principal, Mrs. Decorsey, joined us for the feast and even helped us serve the food.
Alyssa didn't miss out on the fun completely. We took her home a "to go" plate from the feast and Mrs. S sent her own pilgrim bonnet home for Alyssa to have.
