Really Funny Mom, Now Rinse Our Hair!!

Okay, so maybe they will think twice before they ask mommy to help fix their hair for school pictures in the future ...

Just a quick post to let everyone know that Alyssa now has cut her four 1 year molars and Madison has cut her four eye teeth ... they still need to finish coming in completely, but I am hopeful that the ever-so-lovely crabiness that comes with teething might be leaving our house hold soon.

Surprisingly, even with our little crabby girls and their teething woes, we managed to catch a moment or two of sisterly love:

Sometimes moments like that make it all worth while!

Underwater Adventures at the Mall of America

Daddy and I decided it would be nice to do something as a family since he was home for the week and I could manage my work hours more easier than our "normal" has been. After mommy finished working, we packed up the girls and headed to the MOA (Mall of America for those of you not familiar with the local lingo). http://www.sharky.tv/index.html We picked a good day/time to go as it seems once the Christmas Season is over, the MOA is almost nearly empty on Mondays and Tuesdays in the afternoons and evenings ... good for us locals!!

We took the girls to Underwater Adventures to walk through the shark aquarium. The place was almost completely empty, which is wonderful when trying to guide two almost 16-month-old toddlers through the shark tunnels. We had a wonderful time and the girls were amazed at all the sharks and fish swimming over our heads and right next to us. We tried to take some pictures, but the flash just blacked out the fish and if I went without the flash they were completely blurry shots. Madison was completely into checking out all the fish; however, even though Alyssa did a lot of pointing to and giggling at the fish, we think she enjoyed running away from us more!! The girls even got to touch baby sharks, which kind of freaked Alyssa out a bit and she got away from daddy and before I knew it she was heading up the escalator with daddy chasing behind her!! Madison and I kept petting the sharks waiting for their return.

Anyway, the girls had a GREAT day which we finished off with dinner out and ice cream!! Now, lets just hope they sleep in a little bit longer tomorrow ... like maybe 7:00 a.m. or so ...

Move Over Picasso & VanGough ...

... and make room for Madison & Alyssa!!! The girls had their very FIRST try at coloring today. I am happy to report that all the crayon marks on the table actually did wash off ... who ever would have thought they would make washable crayons??!!?? So what do you think ... do we have another Picasso or VanGough on our hands (please do take note that mommy did all of the coloring that appears to be within the lines):

Teeth, Bruises and Bouncing Babies!!

Okay, so the girls got the Fisher Price Bounce & Spin Zebra with a gift card from their birthday. I am happy to report that after only a mere 3 1/2 months, we have not only mastered mounting and dismounting, but the actual BOUNCE!!! Prior to the last couple of days they considered bouncing on the zebra to be much like riding a rocking horse and proceeded to force the poor zebra to rock front to back. I felt sorry for the zebra and worried we would break the thing before we figured out the proper riding technique. Happily, Fisher Price obviously took this into consideration and made the thing sturdy ... Thank you!!!

Also, it has been a while since I have had a post regarding TEETH! Well, Madison is currently cutting all four of her "eye" teeth, two are poking through and the other two are close behind ... this will give Miss Madison a grand total of 16 teeth to date! Not to be outdone by her sister, Alyssa has also decided to cut four teeth at the same time, only she is working on her four 1-year molars. Three of these are currently through with the last one about to break the skin any minute now. This will give Miss Alyssa a grand total of 12 teeth. Needless to say, Infant Tylenol is our friend!!

Now for the bruises part of my post ... bad mommy moment #4 (I have conveniently filed #1, #2 and #3 in the back of my head without posting them ... hee hee). Anyway, Miss Alyssa has decided that she would like to attempt to be the first to "walk" down a single step rather than our traditional backwards crawl down it. To complicate things more, she decided she was really going to show off for people and carry a toy at the same time ... well, what should have been a glorious moment for my little toddler, became a very graceless fall off that one step with the toy she was proudly carrying being shoved into her eye socket ... so here it is for the blogging world to see ...

Pretty nice huh??!! Now picture me taking her to her well baby check up with it ... ummm yeah ... the doctor thought it was nice too.

15 Month Well Baby Checks

The girls had their 15 month well baby checks this afternoon. They are growing like weeds and progressing developmentally with no worries. We discussed the "delayed" speech issue and our doctor felt that even though the girls are not saying actual words yet, they babble quite efficiently and tend to communicate with each other very well, so we are just to keep encouraging the girls to use words and read a lot to them.

Alyssa is now measuring 33" tall (83.8 cm) which is still the 100th percentile. She weighs 26 lbs (11.79 kg) which is the 75th percentile.

Madison is now measuring 31 1/2" tall (80 cm) which is at the 95th percentile. She weighs 21 lbs (9.53 kg) which is the 25th percentile.

They are both continuing to grow along their same growth curves since birth, so that is all good!!

Both girls received two more immunization shots (one in each of their legs). Alyssa doesn't need to be seen again until age 2 (unless we have issues before then) and Madison needs to be seen at 18 months if her umbilical hernia is still present.

So, all in all, very good appointments for both babies!!
