Mommy's Little Helpers

Well, lately our house has had a rather challenging environment. My only guess is that the "terrible twos" x 2 have begun to hit our usually happy, slightly chaotic home. The girls have now decided that they will challenge mommy with everything ... especially the dreaded "no" or "please do not touch that". Madison has always been a bit of a challenge, always pushing to see how far she can get, but up until lately, all I would have to do is say Alyssa's name sternly and she stopped dead in her tracks. Now they both challenge mommy and what is worse, they actually stop what they are doing, laugh at mommy and then proceed to do it again. Also, if one girl is being told "no", now the other runs to support her efforts by doing exactly what the first one was being scolded for ... AND LAUGH AT MOMMY ... good grief.

Grandma B was over to babysit yesterday morning and while I was upstairs doing my work, I heard the "no" phase come out of Grandma's mouth ... followed a few seconds later by double laughter from the babies ... at least they are not singling mommy out ... they appear to be equal opportunity challengers. I hate to admit it, but it made me a smile a bit to know it wasn't just me.

At any rate, back to the title of this post ... at least, at times, they are still cute ...

Our Funny Valentines

Well, Valentine's lunch/dinner was a success at the Cheesecake Factory, although I do not think I would call them a "kid friendly" restaurant. They had booster chairs and high chairs, but no kids menu, no crayons, no cute placemats, no interesting kiddie cups. We opted for a grilled cheese sandwich for the girls to share and I think they could have invited 3-4 more friends to help them eat based on the size of the thing. I did notice that they had a big display case of "Cheesecake" Advertising stuffed animals that you could purchase for the kiddos, I guess that is the "kid friendly part". The girls were great the restaurant and charmed everyone they looked at. They have changed so much over this past year, it is unbelievable really! At any rate, we hope each of you had a good Valentine's Day for 2007, and just for the records, cheesecake wasn't a big hit but the whipped cream was!

Meet Booger & Snot

Well, with the girls both coming down with the croup last Wednesday and then mommy getting ill along with them, this might as well have been a reference to them, because those two names would definitely be appropriate. However, Booger & Snot are actually our lovely names for the two "Mr. Mucus'" that Grandpa B thought would be lovely gifts for our little ones ... are you jelous yet, because I might be able to con him out of another one for any of you ...

At any rate, mommy is still sick and the girls are slowly getting better day by day. They are still a bit congested in their chests and both have very runny noses. So really, other than all of us being sick around here, not much else has been happening.

We are going to go out and brave the cold to have a Valentine's dinner with mommy, daddy and the girls. Trying to find a family friendly spot may prove somewhat of a challenge, but we are going to give The Cheesecake Factory a try this time.

Saturday will also be a big day for the girls as they are hosting a playdate with our buddy Christian and another little buddy, Anna. Anna will be turning one years old on the 20th, so we took a little break in our day today and went to Target to pick out a gift for her!! We even ran into Aunt Tammy and Christian in Target and got to visit for a few minutes before checking out!

Well, hopefully we will be back tomorrow with a great report from our little Valentine's dinner!!

What Would You Do With 420 Diapers?

Yeah, it wasn't my first thought either, but then again, I am not only 16 1/2 months old!!! You might wonder what my answer to this question would have been ... not nearly as fun, but 420 diapers means I will not have to buy any more for about 42 days, give or take a few ...

Mommy and daddy's pocketbook will love it when potty training becomes a reality in our home, of course, toilet paper for three girls could add up too, I wonder if Charmin has a multiples program??!!!

The House of Moo's

Umm, no ... we have not purchased a pasture of cows; however, we do have Maddie Moo (Madison) and Missy Moo (Alyssa) and, yes, they do "moo" on command. Why am I blogging about this you ask, well frankly, because nothing much has been happening in our household lately, other than crabby, teething toddlers and that really isn't much fun to live with, let alone write about.

So back to the story of moo ...

Once upon a time, there were a very lucky mommy and daddy to be. They waited a very long to become parents and now after all the waiting, they were expecting the arrival of TWIN GIRLS!! Needless to say, since the pregnancy was an event a long, long, long time in the making, the mommy and daddy had plenty of time (nearly four years) to think of really great names. After much thought, Alyssa & Madison were selected. They were great choices, not much to make of fun about them by other kids and really no easily thought of knick-names other than Ally & Maddie, which the mommy and daddy were okay with. Well, the girls arrived and the names were given. Immediately from the start, it was discovered that Alyssa was definitely an Alyssa and not an "Ally"; it was uncomfortable to even try calling her that. However, Madison was definitely a "Maddie". Even though she was a Maddie, the mommy and daddy decided that Pumpkin (Alyssa) and Peanut (Madison) would be the given knick-names (mainly due to the 1 pound size difference).

Okay, fine you say ... well, Maddie rhymes with lots of things and soon Maddie or Peanut morphed into "Maddie Paddie". So it was Alyssa and Maddie Paddie ... great! Then it happened, one day the mommy heard the daddy calling the girls "Maddie Paddie" and ... get this ... "Alyssa Pissa", umm ... yeah like peeing ... Since daddy was "from another country", the mommy explained that "Pissa" wasn't an appropriate knick-name for their little girl even if it DID rhyme with Maddie Paddie ... geez you would have thought daddy was from another planet rather then hailing from Sweden AND actually having lived here longer than there now.

At any rate, Maddie Moo and Missy Moo were then developed and have stuck. Hence, welcome to my "House of Moo's" ... although I hope Mommy Moo doesn't become a name that sticks ...
